Welcome to the Newspaper Section of the Independence Township Library's Community Information Network, CIN. Local newspapers are a rich source of historical information, which we would like to include in the CIN. Newspapers known to have covered the Clarkston area include:

Unfortunately complete sets of the early newspapers and the Clarkston Independence Times are not known to exist. Your help is needed to locate these newspapers.

Our digitizing project began with the earliest known local newspaper, the Community News. A complete set of the Community News which was published bi-weekly in the 1920's would be a wonderful addition to the CIN. The Library has the following issues:

If you have any of the missing issues, unknown newspapers earlier than 1920, or the Clarkston Independence Times please consider donating them to the Library or allowing the Library to photocopy them so that they may be digitized and shared with the community.
